Audio Solutions Question of the Week: Is the ATR2500x-USB Microphone Compatible with My iPad Pro?

Audio Solutions Question of the Week: Is the ATR2500x-USB Microphone Compatible with My iPad Pro?

Question: Is the ATR2500x-USB microphone compatible with my iPad Pro?

Answer: These days the bar of entry to high-quality recording is lower than ever before. Many people are looking to expand outside the norm in order to find more freedom when it comes to audio recording. To accomplish this, we’ve seen more portable devices, such as the iPad Pro, being used not only to complete the everyday tasks of work, but as tools for artistic expression as well. With the ATR2500x-USB condenser microphone, we aim to provide our customers with a product that is compatible with the many devices they may use.

The ATR2500x-USB comes equipped with the highest-quality analog-to-digital converter (24-bit, up to 192 kHz) that Audio-Technica offers within our line of USB microphones. This high-fidelity audio can help elevate your video calls/meetings and give you the flexibility of producing high-quality tracks while on the go. The ATR2500x-USB (and ATR2100x-USB) also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, making connection to the iPad Pro easier than ever before. Just plug it in and you are ready to start creating content.

We’ve tested the microphone with a few basic programs on the iPad Pro to see how it performs, focusing primarily on GarageBand, because the ease of use and intuitiveness of the program makes it extremely accessible to users of all experience levels. Since the ATR2500x-USB can record with such high fidelity, it can produce professional-sounding recordings in GarageBand with a fraction of the equipment found in pro studios.

We’ve also tested the mic with video conferencing applications such as Microsoft Teams, and had great results. Now you can have the flexibility of taking calls anywhere, while maintaining excellent audio quality.

If you find that some applications are not recognizing your microphone, you may want to check your microphone privacy settings, Settings > Privacy > Microphone, to ensure that you are allowing the applications to have access to your external microphone.

Lastly, we realize that, while the ATR2500x-USB comes with an iPad Pro-ready USB-C cable, many will still want to use an AT2020USB+ with their iPad Pro. We’ve found that this is possible to do with a USB-C adapter, such as the Syntech USB-C to USB-A OTG cable adapter. Using this particular adapter, we’ve had great success connecting most of our USB microphones to newer Apple devices.

If you have any questions about the compatibility of your Audio-Technica USB microphone and Apple products, please contact the Audio Solutions Department for more information.
