Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How Do I Configure the ES Modular Gooseneck Microphone Systems?

Question: How do I configure the ES modular gooseneck microphone systems?

Answer: With the new ES925 modular microphone systems, part of the contractor-exclusive Engineered Sound® line, designing a customized gooseneck microphone solution has never been easier. These ES systems offer new power module options, gooseneck lengths, and microphone capsules, which can be combined into 72 different configurations.

Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How do I configure the ES modular gooseneck microphone systems?

The first step is to select the type of power module you want. The ES8544 is a standard in-line power module with a 3-pin XLR output. The ES8755R and ES8755RC are Flush Mount power modules. The ES8755R has a 3-pin XLR output connection and a capacitive touch switch for local muting of the microphone, whereas the ES8755RC has a 5-pin XLR output connection with a capacitive touch switch with logic output for controlling remote devices. Additionally, the Flush Mounts have a two-state RGB LED ring with 8 different color states (7 colors plus off). These colors are user-selectable for precise customization. Lastly, the ES8766RC Desk Stand allows the microphone to be used on a flat surface without permanently installing the power module. The ES8766RC offers a 5-pin TB5M output connection, capacitive touch switch with local and remote switching options, and a two-state RGB LED ring.

The second step is selecting the gooseneck length. There are six different lengths: 6 inches, 12 inches, 15 inches, 18 inches, 21 inches, and 24 inches. All goosenecks have an RGB LED ring at the top of the gooseneck that follows the color state of the LED on the power module. The goosenecks twist lock into any of the power modules where they may be secured by the power module’s set screw.

The final step is to select the polar pickup pattern of the microphone element. The options are cardioid (ESE-Ca), hypercardioid (ESE-Ha), and MicroLine® (ESE-MLa). The microphone elements also include a new windscreen, which has a transparent ring at the base to allow the RGB LED ring at the top of the gooseneck to be visible. All the power modules, goosenecks, and elements will be sold separately, as well, allowing you to make a slight setup change without changing the entire gooseneck system.
