Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How Do I Choose the Right LH Series Headshell for My Turntable?

Question: How do I choose the right LH series headshell for my turntable?

Answer: For vinyl enthusiasts in search of a way to reduce unwanted vibrations of the headshell/cartridge assembly, Audio-Technica offers the LH series of heavier headshells! These headshells have a hard-anodized finish that reduces unwanted vibration for a more stable and pleasant tracking experience when playing your records. The headshells are available in four different weight options:

AT-LH11H = 11 grams (recommended for Audio-Technica turntables that use straight headshells)

AT-LH13H = 13 grams

AT-LH15H = 15 grams

AT-LH18H = 18 grams

It is important to note when choosing the right headshell for your turntable that you must follow the applicable cartridge/headshell weight requirements, usually specified in the documentation/specifications for your turntable model. The combination of the headshell’s weight and the cartridge’s weight with the mounting hardware must not exceed the maximum weight limit of the applicable weight range specified by the turntable. The only headshell model in this series that is compatible with Audio-Technica turntables that use a straight headshell is the AT-LH11H.

Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How Do I Choose the Right LH Series Headshell for My Turntable?

The LH series headshells are ideal for mounting cartridges with threaded mounting holes such as the AT-VM95 series, AT-OC9X series, and AT-ART9X series cartridges. The headshells come equipped with OFC (oxygen-free copper) lead wires and include cartridge installation screws, plastic washers, and a hexagonal wrench. These headshells also feature an adjustable cylinder that enables precise azimuth and overhang settings.
