Question: How do I change the earpads on the ATH-M70x headphones?

Answer: The ATH-M70x headphones have interchangeable earpads that the user can easily replace. Replacement earpads are available through the Audio-Technica Parts Department at parts@atus.com. Once you receive the replacement earpads, follow the instructions below to remove the old pads and install the new ones.

Before we start, note that the earpads have six slots that connect to tabs on the headphones.

To remove the old earpads, push up and out from the center of the earcups, which will loosen and disconnect the tabs. You may then pull the old earpads off and discard.

To install the new earpads, proceed with the following instructions.

  1. Position the replacement earpads so that the slots on the earpads line up with the tabs on the earcups. There will be a slight gap between the two as the tabs have not yet been attached.

  2. Place your thumbs on either side of the slot at the top of the earpad and push the slot onto the tab.
  3. Once the tab is all the way into the earpad slot, push the slot toward the center of the earcup to lock it onto the tab. You should feel and hear the two snap together.

You may prolong the life of your ATH-M70x earpads by cleaning and wiping them down after each use, applying a damp cloth to remove excess oils that have transferred from your skin.
