Audio-Technica, a leading innovator in transducer technology, is proud to continue its collaboration with MotoAmerica, North America's premier motorcycle racing series, to enhance the audio experience for fans and viewers. Race Track

As part of this partnership, Audio-Technica has deployed its industry-standard  BP4029 and BP4027 stereo shotgun microphones, along with a pair of AT4051b microphones in a stereo X/Y pattern to capture the dynamic sounds of MotoAmerica racing events. This setup ensures that viewers receive a fantastic stereo image and authentic audio experience, bringing them closer to the adrenaline-pumping action on the track.

The BP4029 stereo shotgun microphones are deployed on the handheld pit cameras and offer outstanding stereo imaging and natural sound quality, making them the perfect choice for capturing the revving engines in the MotoAmerica pits. Their compact design and robust construction make the microphones ideal for outdoor recording environments, ensuring reliable performance even in challenging conditions.

For the trackside speed camera shots, a pair of AT4051b microphones deliver exceptional clarity and detail, capturing the subtle nuances of the racing experience with precision. When used in a stereo X/Y pattern, these microphones provide a realistic stereo image that enhances viewers' sense of being trackside and makes them feel as though they are right in the heart of the action, truly connecting them to the racing experience.

AT4051b Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The stereo X/Y pattern utilized by Audio-Technica's microphones creates a broader soundstage, accurately reproducing the spatial characteristics of the racing environment. By strategically positioning the microphones at a precise angle, Audio-Technica captures the full breadth of the audio spectrum, from the rumbling bass of the engines to the high-frequency whine of the chains and tires.

"The BP4029 short stereo shotguns sound great and hold up in the bike pit lanes, where the SPL is extremely loud," says Josh McInerney, the Audio Sound Effects Mixing Engineer for MotoAmerica. He adds, “We deployed multiple pairs of the AT4051b small diaphragm condenser microphones to enhance the stereo image as the bikes whiz past the cameras. The microphones' 10 dB pad withstands the extremely high SPL levels trackside.”

The collaboration between Audio-Technica and MotoAmerica is a testament to our shared commitment to delivering excellence in audio performance. By leveraging Audio-Technica's cutting-edge microphone solutions, MotoAmerica is setting new heights for audio quality in motorsports broadcasting, ensuring that our audience can always expect the best.
