A-T Microphone Questions

Q: Best mic or supporting attachments for voice isolation?

Our AT2020USB-XP does a great job of ensuring the focus remains on a chosen sound source (thanks to its cardioid directional pick-up and onboard noise reduction). You can also select from three levels of noise reduction or turn it off completely, depending on your recording environment. The AT-2020USB-XP microphone provides users additional digital control with on-board automatic gain control. This feature allows users to maintain a consistent microphone output level regardless of how loudly or softly they speak or sing. Plus, the AT2020USB-X comes with the AT8175 pop filter!

Q: What’s a good starter mic for recording videos for a 10 year old?

Our go-to recommendations for content creators (of all ages  )  would be our 20-series mics. The AT2020 is a great starter mic packed with features to create professional-sounding audio.

Q: Is the AT2040USB better than the AT2020USB-X for recording in my bedroom

There’s a few differences we’d like to call out with the microphones! Both include USB functionality, but the AT2040USB is a dynamic microphone, which will minimize bedroom noise, while the AT2020USB-X is a cardioid condenser microphone. Cardioid condenser microphones are sensitive and may pick up more background noise. The AT2040USB was developed for broadcast too, so it’s designed to optimize your voice, no matter your environment.
