Lumens CamConnect Pro Automates Camera Tracking for More Natural and Productive Meetings

The ATND1061DAN and ATND1061LK Beamforming Ceiling Array Microphones are now compatible with the award-winning CamConnect Pro from Lumens® Digital Optics Inc., a leading optical technology company. 

Lumens CamConnect Pro integrates seamlessly with the ATND1061 to link pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera movements to the microphone’s camera area zones, so as different people speak in a meeting they are not only heard but immediately seen as well. This provides a cohesive audiovisual experience for remote meeting attendees, allowing them to follow the meeting just as naturally as those attending in person. 

By pairing Lumens technology with the ATND1061, cameras no longer need to be controlled manually – zoom, pan, tilt and focus functions are triggered automatically to capture the active speaker in a meeting.

How Lumens CamConnect Pro Improves Collaboration Spaces

Like the beamforming microphone pickup of the ATND1061, which ensures every voice in a meeting is heard, effective camera tracking makes sure every speaker is seen. The Lumens CamConnect Pro is easy to set up and configure, and can be managed through the CamConnect software.

Integrating the CamConnect Pro with the ATND1061 creates a powerful solution for conference rooms, boardrooms, and other meeting spaces, leveraging the array’s unique ability to track voices and focus pickup on the current speaker to automatically include a corresponding visual component. This greatly enhances the experience for remote participants, essentially bringing them into the room with on-site attendees to enhance collaboration and productivity.

An Advanced Audiovisual Solution

The collaboration between Audio-Technica and Lumens allows for immediate integration of the ATND1061 ceiling array microphone into existing Lumens conference room setups (and vice versa). CamConnect Pro provides direct access to Lumens PTZ cameras, enabling the ATND1061 to send camera area zone information, preset in the Audio-Technica Digital Microphone Manager, to the cameras for the purpose of linking sight and sound. The ceiling array detects the location of the person talking, outputs a control signal, and calls up a preset camera position to capture the person visually.

Integration is simple, requiring only the small AI-Box1 CamConnect processor to configure the Lumens camera settings and link to the Digital Microphone Manager. 

How to Set Up and Manage the Solution

The AI-Box1 CamConnect processor features a built-in user interface (UI) for easy deployment. An integrator creates camera area zones in Digital Microphone Manager that will be sent by the ATND1061 to the CamConnect processor whenever the microphone detects someone speaking. The processor will then send control information to the Lumens PTZ camera, instructing it to focus on the person talking. Digital Microphone Manager can be closed once the camera area zones have been configured; the ATND1061 will output this information directly to the CamConnect processor. After the initial setup, the user can manage camera settings in the CamConnect software.

The Lumens CamConnect Pro is scalable. It is able to interface concurrently with up to 4 Lumens cameras and as many as 16 ATND1061 microphones. Beyond the standard triggering of cameras, advanced settings enable configuration of audio trigger levels, preset trigger and return home durations, and preset positioning.
